ABX
Architecture Boston Expo
A well-defined grid of of colored squares served as the backbone of this concept and placing it on a black background created a nice visual tension that would attract the designer/architect audience. Content or color-treated photos of Boston architecture or the expo and conference would be placed in the squares and create a collage effect for advertising and onsite collateral. Clean graphic elements and a simple type treatment would enhance the overall look and feel without detracting from the messaging of specific projects.
FIREX
This initial concept used a large photo showing family interactions within the safety of their home or apartment as its primary focus. The headline is bold and clean and the composition is framed at the bottom with a generic cityscape silhouette and blends into the footer where ad copy and date/venue information can be placed. Shown on the left is a summary of the creative brief provided by the client.
Although the general idea and layout was acceptable, the client wanted to see more commercial and business buildings portrayed as the main image. They also wanted to see variations on the type treatment of the headline. I felt the layout lent itself to any image to help convey the messaging and could be tailored for different audiences as needed.
IMHX
International Materials Handling Exhibition
A structured, yet random, mosaic of brightly colored tiles represents the logistics and supply chains underlying modern business. From a design perspective, this created a seamless pattern on which both content and images can be placed, and can also be used as both a background or border. Primary colors are used as they hold significance in the industry, and gradients and shadows add a sense of depth, which can be used to highlight calls-to-action and other content.
ISSA
International Sanitary Supply Association
A wavy line element enhances the feeling of clean, flowing water and is reflection of the graphic element seen in the ISSA logo. The curve also serves as a border of the primary photo and creates a shape in which content can placed for ads and show signage. The three colors variations are taken from the previous look and feel and can be used to highlight different areas of the show. If used correctly, the colors can also be interchanged for all collateral materials without sacrificing consistency
TISE
The International Surface Event
Large primary photos are used to enhance headlines that can be changed for different markets or uses, but are generally a whimsical play on words revolving around the idea of floors and surfaces. As the photos are changed from project to project, so too does the primary color palette. Various textures are also used in the concept to lend emphasis where needed. The variety of content that can be used with this idea creates an engaging, friendly, and versatile campaign.
